Helium 10 Review 2026: Is It Still the Best Amazon Research Suite?

Helium 10 Platinum tested across two Amazon accounts over eight weeks -- Black Box, Cerebro, Listing Optimiser, and whether $99/mo is worth it in 2026.

Mark Dunne

Viral Launch shut down in January 2026. Tens of thousands of Amazon sellers suddenly needed a new research suite. Most of them landed on Helium 10 -- because it is the default, the market leader, the tool everyone recommends when someone asks where to start.

But "everyone recommends it" is not a reason to pay $99 a month. I tested Helium 10 on the Platinum plan across two Amazon accounts for eight weeks in June and July 2026 to find out whether the default recommendation is actually the right one.

TL;DR verdict

Helium 10 is the most complete Amazon research suite available. Black Box and Cerebro are genuinely best-in-class for product and keyword research. The Listing Optimizer and AI features are improving fast. The main weakness is breadth -- you pay for 30+ tools and realistically use six. At Platinum ($99/mo), it is worth it for serious Amazon sellers. For beginners or budget-constrained sellers, Jungle Scout at $29/mo covers the essentials at lower cost. See our testing methodology.

Limited offer: 30% off Platinum, August 24--28 only

Helium 10 is running a five-day promotion on Platinum -- 30% off for six months for new subscribers. That is $69.30/month instead of $99 for your first six months. The deal goes live 12:01 a.m. PT on August 24 and closes 11:59 p.m. PT on August 28. Access it via our affiliate link. After August 28, use code SELLERSTACK20 for 20% off for six months instead.

How did we evaluate Helium 10?

I tested Helium 10 on the Platinum plan across two accounts -- one in health supplements, one in kitchen accessories -- from June to July 2026. Evaluation covered product research (Black Box and Xray), keyword research (Cerebro and Magnet), listing optimisation (the AI Listing Optimizer and Scribbles), operational tools (Profits, Alerts, Market Tracker), and the new AI features introduced in Q1 2026.

Where I compare against Jungle Scout or ZonGuru, I draw on six months of parallel use across all three platforms.

How does Helium 10 pricing work?

Helium 10 has three paid tiers plus a limited free account. The Platinum plan is what most individual sellers use. Diamond is for teams or high-volume operations. Annual billing saves around 25% versus monthly.

PlanMonthly billingAnnual billingKey limits
Starter$37/mo$29/moLimited uses per tool per month
Platinum$99/mo$79/moFull tool access, 1 user
Diamond$279/mo$229/moMultiple users, advanced features, AI hub
EnterpriseCustomCustomAgencies and large brands

The Starter plan is genuinely limiting. Most tools have a monthly cap -- two Black Box searches, limited Cerebro lookups -- that runs out within a week of real use. Platinum is the functional entry point. Diamond adds multi-user access and the full AI toolkit, which matters if you are building product listings at scale.

The August 24--28 promotion brings Platinum to $69.30/month for six months. After that it reverts to $99/mo unless you have a coupon code. Use SELLERSTACK20 for 20% off for six months as the ongoing alternative.

What is actually inside Helium 10?

Helium 10 markets 30+ tools. In practice, most sellers use six to eight regularly. Here is the breakdown of what matters.

Helium 10

The most complete Amazon research suite -- product research, keywords, listing optimisation, and seller operations in one platform.

from From $99/mo (Platinum)

Best for: Full-time Amazon private label sellers who want one platform for research, listing building, and operational monitoring rather than stitching together multiple subscriptions.

How does Helium 10 product research work?

Black Box is the product research engine. It filters Amazon's catalogue by category, monthly revenue, review count, price range, number of sellers, and dozens of other signals. My first Black Box search in health supplements with basic filters (monthly revenue $10K-$50K, fewer than 200 reviews, price $15-$40) returned 847 products in under 30 seconds. That is both the power and the problem -- you get a lot of results and need to know how to filter intelligently to find genuinely actionable opportunities.

The Xray Chrome extension is the complement to Black Box. You search normally on Amazon, click Xray, and get estimated monthly sales, revenue, review velocity, and BSR history for every product on the page. I ran Xray on the top 10 results for a target keyword in kitchen accessories. Sales estimates were within 22% of the figures I could cross-reference against seller forum reports for two products I knew actual numbers on. That is accurate enough to use as a directional filter, not accurate enough to base an entire sourcing decision on.

What works on product research

  • Black Box filter depth. You can slice by review rating, exact fulfilment type, seasonal sales patterns, and niche-specific signals. No other tool in the category matches the granularity.
  • Xray speed. Surfacing estimated sales data for an entire search page in two seconds is genuinely faster than any competitor extension I tested.
  • Historical BSR tracking. See a product's Best Seller Rank over 12+ months. Critical for separating genuinely consistent sellers from seasonal spikes.

What does not

  • Revenue estimates vary. On high-velocity products with thousands of reviews, Xray is reliable. On newer listings or niche products with fewer data points, variance widens. I found a 35-40% gap on two low-review products in my kitchen accessories category.
  • Black Box requires experience to use well. The 847 results I got from my first search were mostly noise. It took three hours of filter refinement before I was finding genuinely interesting opportunities. Jungle Scout's Opportunity Finder is more opinionated and better for beginners.

How does Helium 10 keyword research work?

Cerebro is the reverse ASIN tool. You drop in a competitor's ASIN and it returns every keyword Amazon is indexing them for, along with estimated search volume, ranking position, and Helium 10's own "Cerebro IQ Score" weighting relevance vs competition. Running Cerebro on my best competitor in health supplements returned 2,341 keywords. The top 200 were immediately actionable -- terms I was not using that the competitor was ranking for on page one.

Magnet is the keyword suggestion tool. You seed it with one to three terms and it returns related searches with volume estimates, trending direction, and competing product counts. I compared Magnet's volume estimates against Amazon Brand Analytics data for 50 keywords. For terms above 2,000 monthly searches, Magnet was within 18% on average. Below that, variance widened to 35-40% -- where Brand Analytics showed 800 searches, Magnet might show 550 or 1,100. Use Magnet to find and rank keywords, not to produce precise volume numbers.

Frankenstein processes bulk keyword lists -- removes duplicates, filters by frequency, combines phrases. Not glamorous, but it saved me two hours of spreadsheet work when I was consolidating a list of 3,000 terms from multiple Cerebro exports.

What works on keyword research

  • Cerebro is best in class. No competitor returns more keyword data from a single ASIN, and the IQ Score is genuinely useful for prioritisation.
  • Magnet trend data. Seeing whether a keyword is gaining or losing search volume over 30, 60, and 90 days helps you avoid optimising for terms that are declining.
  • Keyword bank. Save keywords across multiple research sessions and organise by ASIN or campaign. Better than managing spreadsheets.

What does not

  • Magnet volume is imprecise below 2,000 searches. Fine for filtering and ranking. Not fine for revenue forecasting.
  • Cerebro on brand-new ASINs is limited. If a competitor has been live for less than 60 days, there is not enough indexing data to give you a useful picture.

How does Helium 10 listing optimisation work?

The AI Listing Optimizer is Helium 10's most-improved feature in 2026. You input target keywords, the tool pulls competitor listings for context, and it generates a full listing -- title, bullet points, description -- scored against keyword coverage and readability. My existing health supplements listing scored 58 on Helium 10's scale before optimisation. After following the keyword placement recommendations and rewriting bullets around the suggested terms, the score moved to 87.

Whether that score improvement translates to ranking improvement takes six to eight weeks to confirm in practice. Scores are Helium 10's own metric, not Amazon's. But the keyword gap identification -- terms my competitors were using that I had missed entirely -- was genuinely useful regardless of the score.

Scribbles is the listing builder companion: a structured editor that lets you see which keywords you have and have not yet incorporated into your title, bullets, and description. Old-fashioned compared to the AI Optimizer but precise. I use both -- Scribbles to ensure no important keyword is missed, the AI Optimizer for the first draft.

How do the operational tools hold up?

Profits is the P&L dashboard. It pulls in revenue, Amazon fees, FBA costs, ad spend, and refunds to give you a real net margin. My spreadsheet estimated 27% net margin on one ASIN. Profits showed 23%. The gap came from return processing fees I had not fully accounted for. Four percentage points on a $15 product is the difference between a viable product and a waste of capital.

Alerts monitors your listings for changes: title edits, category shifts, new sellers joining your listing, suppressed listings, and review velocity drops. I set Alerts on four competitor ASINs in week one. By week's end I had received three notifications of title changes and one alert that a new seller had joined a competitor's listing -- suggesting someone was testing arbitrage on that ASIN. Useful competitive intelligence.

Market Tracker shows your market share and keyword ranking position over time, alongside competitors. Useful for seeing whether ranking gains from listing optimisation are holding. Less useful if you are still in early launch phase and rankings are volatile.

What works

  • Profits accuracy. The fee breakdown is detailed and reliable. Stopped me from mistaking gross revenue for profit more than once.
  • Alerts speed. Notifications arrive within hours of a listing change. Faster than any manual monitoring I was doing.

What does not

  • Market Tracker needs 60+ days of data to be meaningful. In the first two months you are watching noise, not trends.
  • Follow-Up (email sequences) is now limited by Amazon policy. The feature exists but the use cases for automated buyer emails are significantly narrowed compared to two years ago.

The honest comparison: Helium 10 is the most complete. Jungle Scout has better sales estimates and a cleaner workflow for beginners. ZonGuru is better if you are a private label seller specifically hunting niches and want a focused toolkit without the clutter. SmartScout does something different -- brand-level competitive research and, crucially, TikTok Shop data -- and does not compete with Helium 10 head-to-head so much as complement it.

For former Viral Launch users now deciding where to land, see our best Viral Launch alternatives guide -- Helium 10 is the most natural migration path, but it is not automatically the right one.

Is Helium 10 worth it in 2026?

At Platinum, yes -- for sellers treating Amazon as a primary business. The Cerebro and Magnet keyword tools alone justify the cost if you are launching or optimising listings regularly. Profits prevents costly margin miscalculations. Alerts saves you from discovering competitor listing changes weeks after they happen.

The weakness is tool bloat. Helium 10 includes inventory forecasting, freight tools, email automation, and more. None of these are best-in-class. You end up paying for a platform where you use 30% of what is available. That is the trade-off.

The August 24--28 promotion at 30% off makes the maths easier. $69.30/month for six months of Platinum is the cheapest the platform gets. If you have been evaluating Helium 10 and waiting for the right time, this window is worth acting on.
