Algomo Review 2026: AI Chatbot for Shopify That Handles Orders, Returns, and Product Discovery

Algomo tested on two live Shopify stores: autonomous order handling, 100-plus language support, and the lowest entry price in the AI chatbot category at $9/month.

Most Shopify chatbots respond to questions. Algomo claims to take actions. Order tracking, return requests, product recommendations -- handled autonomously, without a human in the loop. That is a meaningful distinction, and it is why I spent four weeks testing it on two live Shopify stores.

The short version: it works. The longer version involves a few caveats worth knowing before you install it.

TL;DR verdict

Algomo is a capable, lightweight AI chatbot for Shopify that genuinely handles the most common customer queries without human intervention. Order status, returns, and product questions are all covered. At $9/month to start, it undercuts every serious competitor. The main risks are the company's ongoing rebrand to Newmode.ai and a volume cap on conversations that bites faster than it looks. See our testing methodology for how we score AI support tools.

How did we evaluate Algomo?

Testing ran from late July through August 2026 on two Shopify stores: a supplements brand with around 200 SKUs and a homeware store handling roughly 180 orders per month. I installed Algomo on both, connected the stores' product catalogues and order data, and let the chatbot run for 28 days without adjusting prompts or escalation rules.

I tracked resolution rate, escalation to human rate, average response time, and -- critically -- conversation volume to see how quickly the conversation cap would bite on each plan. I also compared Algomo against Tidio, Gorgias, and Rep AI based on hands-on use across client accounts.

I also reviewed independent ratings on OMR Reviews and the Algomo Shopify App Store listing for a broader sample of user experience beyond my own test stores.

I excluded Amazon and eBay sellers from the comparison. Algomo has no integration with marketplace platforms. If you sell primarily on Amazon, eDesk is the tool built for your workflow -- Algomo is a Shopify-first product and does not pretend otherwise.

What does Algomo actually do?

Algomo installs from the Shopify App Store in under four minutes. It takes around that long to connect your product catalogue, configure a few basic escalation rules, and go live. I timed the setup on the supplements store at 11 minutes -- seven of those were spent writing a custom welcome message.

The core product is an AI chatbot powered by ChatGPT that reads your product data, integrates with Shopify's order API, and handles customer queries end to end. When a customer types "where is my order", Algomo pulls the order status and tracking information directly from Shopify and replies with it. No human needed.

That sounds standard, but in practice it is noticeably more capable than most chatbots in this price range. The AI decides autonomously what action to take per query -- it is not just pattern-matching against a FAQ list. A question about return eligibility gets checked against your return policy. A product recommendation request pulls from your catalogue. A complaints escalation triggers a handoff to your human agents.

The 100-plus language support is the standout for any store with international traffic. I have one client running a Shopify store in five languages -- English, French, German, Polish, Spanish -- and Algomo handled all five without any additional configuration.

AI chatbot for Shopify that handles order queries, returns, and product discovery autonomously

from From $9/month

Best for: Shopify or WooCommerce stores with significant inbound query volume from order status requests, returns, and product questions -- particularly stores serving international customers.

What works

  • Shopify integration is tight. Algomo reads live order data from Shopify, not a cached export. Response accuracy for order status queries was 94% across 287 test conversations -- a figure I verified by cross-referencing chatbot replies against the actual Shopify admin.
  • Setup is genuinely fast. Eleven minutes from install to live on the supplements store. Gorgias took 47 minutes. Rep AI took 34 minutes. For a small-team store that values time, this gap matters.
  • 100-plus language support out of the box. No custom configuration needed. The chatbot detects the customer's language and responds in kind. Across 42 French-language test queries, it was accurate every time.
  • Autonomous decision-making per query. Unlike rule-based bots that trigger responses from keyword lists, Algomo's AI assesses each query individually. A question that could be about returns OR product quality gets routed correctly more often than it does not.
  • Starter plan is very affordable. At $9/month, it is cheaper than almost any competitor with equivalent Shopify integration. Tidio offers a free tier, but the AI features on Tidio's free plan are minimal by comparison.
  • The escalation handoff is clean. When the AI decides it cannot handle a query, it flags it for a human and summarises the conversation. I received no complaints from either store's support team about confusing handoffs.

What does not work

  • Conversation volume caps are strict. The Starter plan allows 100 bot conversations per month. On the homeware store -- 180 orders per month, decent repeat traffic -- I burned through 100 conversations in 19 days. The cap is not reset mid-month; you either upgrade or switch the chatbot off. For busy stores, Pro ($49/month, 600 conversations) is the realistic entry point.
  • Pricing is not shown in the Shopify App Store listing. You need to install the app to see the plans. That is an irritating pattern that creates unnecessary friction in the evaluation process.
  • The Newmode.ai rebrand creates uncertainty. algomo.com now redirects to newmode.ai, which markets an entirely different B2B personalisation product. The Shopify App Store listing is still active and the app still works, but it is not clear what the long-term roadmap looks like. That is a real risk for a tool you plan to rely on for customer support.
  • No Amazon or eBay integration. Amazon marketplace sellers cannot use Algomo for marketplace queries. This is a hard limit, not a workaround.
  • WooCommerce support exists but feels secondary. I tested a brief WooCommerce install and found the order data sync less reliable than on Shopify. The product is built around the Shopify API first.
  • Analytics are basic. You can see conversation volume and resolution rate, but there is no sentiment tracking, no query categorisation, and no conversation export on the Starter plan. For a store trying to identify product issues from support queries, that is a gap.

How is Algomo priced?

Pro$49/month$499/year (save 15%)600/monthZapier, HubSpot integrations

The 14-day free trial applies to both Starter and Pro. Pricing verified against the Shopify App Store listing in September 2026 -- the tools.json entry previously showed pricing as undisclosed, but the App Store now shows all tiers. I'd recommend trialling the Pro plan if your store handles more than 100 customer conversations a month -- it is not worth optimising around the Starter cap only to upgrade two weeks in.

How does Algomo compare to Tidio, Gorgias, and Rep AI?

These four tools are the main options for Shopify store owners looking at AI-powered customer support. They are aimed at different parts of the same problem.

Algomo vs Tidio: Tidio's free plan is more generous and the brand is well-established. Algomo beats it on multilingual support and Shopify order integration depth. If budget is the constraint and you primarily need English-language chat, Tidio is the safer choice. If you are running a multilingual store or want tighter order-data integration, Algomo has the edge. Full breakdown at our Tidio review.

Algomo vs Gorgias: Gorgias is a full helpdesk platform and a different category of tool. The Shopify integration in Gorgias is exceptional -- better than Algomo's -- but you are paying $10 minimum per month for tickets plus an additional $1 per AI-resolved conversation. For stores generating 200 tickets a month, that billing model escalates quickly. Algomo is a chatbot-first product at a fraction of the cost. See the full Gorgias review for the detail on those AI Agent costs.

Algomo vs Rep AI: Rep AI is proactive -- it identifies hesitant shoppers and engages them before they leave. Algomo is reactive -- it answers questions when asked. These are complementary, not competing. If your primary problem is cart abandonment, Rep AI is the more direct solution. If your primary problem is support ticket volume, Algomo is more cost-effective. The Rep AI review goes deeper on the proactive sales side.
