The average Shopify store installs five or six conversion apps in its first year and ends up paying $80 to $115 a month for tools that half-duplicate each other. Vitals promises to replace all of them for $29.99. I put that claim to the test on my supplements store over six weeks.
TL;DR verdict
Vitals is the best value starting stack for a new Shopify store. The $29.99 flat fee covers reviews, bundles, upsells, session recordings and 35 more tools -- enough to run a full conversion stack without stacking subscriptions. The catch in 2026 is usage-based billing that can push the real cost to $150 or more a month once your store is doing real volume. Go in knowing that. Full methodology at /how-we-test.
How did we evaluate Vitals?
We ran Vitals on a supplements Shopify store with 200 SKUs and around 3,800 monthly sessions for six weeks from late July to early September 2026. The store was previously running separate apps for product reviews, volume discounts, a wishlist widget and a sticky cart bar -- total cost $87 a month.
I tested each major module, read every one-star and two-star App Store review published since the 2026 pricing change, and went through the Vitals help centre for every AI feature. I also checked r/shopify and the Shopify Community forums for real-world complaints rather than relying on the curated five-star thread at the top of every app listing.
What I did not test: the full email marketing module (I use Omnisend and was not switching), the affiliate programme tool or any of the Vitals AI video generation features. This review is honest about those gaps.
What does Vitals include for $29.99 a month?
The short answer: a lot. Vitals markets itself as 40-plus apps in one, and the main modules are listed below. I have grouped them by what they replace so you can judge value honestly.
| Vitals module | Standalone equivalent | Standalone cost |
|---|---|---|
| Product reviews (photo, email requests, imports) | Judge.me Pro / Loox | $15-$34/mo |
| Bundles and volume discounts | Wide Bundles / Bold Bundles | $14-$19/mo |
| BOGO and mix-and-match offers | BOGO+ | $10/mo |
| Cart upsells and cross-sells | AfterSell / Frequently Bought Together | $12-$18/mo |
| Wishlist | Wishlist King | $9/mo |
| Sticky add to cart bar | Sticky Add To Cart Booster | $7/mo |
| Pop-ups, exit intent, wheel of fortune | Privy / OptiMonk | $12-$30/mo |
| Back in stock alerts | Back In Stock | $12/mo |
| Visitor recordings and heatmaps | Hotjar Starter | $39/mo |
| Currency converter | BEST Currency Converter | $4/mo |
| Trust badges | Free or $4/mo standalone | $0-$4/mo |
| Vitals AI (page, ad, description tools) | Separate AI tools | $15-$40/mo |
Vitals claims to replace $708 a month in apps. That is the highest-end number you can reach if you buy the premium tier of everything. A more realistic comparison -- mid-tier plans for the tools most Shopify stores actually need -- puts the replacement value at roughly $85 to $120 a month. Still three to four times the Vitals price.
Does the single-script approach actually protect your store speed?
The speed question is the first thing sellers ask when I mention Vitals, and it is the right question. Most conversion apps inject scripts directly into your theme, and five of them firing on every page load is a real performance problem.
Vitals loads as a single minified script from a CDN and does not write code into your theme templates. App blocks are added through the Shopify theme editor. I measured page load time on GTmetrix before and after replacing my four standalone apps: the LCP score improved by 0.4 seconds and the total blocking time dropped by 210ms. Your numbers will vary, but the direction was right.
Speed complaints are genuinely rare across nearly 3,000 App Store reviews, which is the most honest endorsement of this approach.
40+ Shopify conversion tools in one app
from $29.99/mo + usage
Best for: New and growing Shopify stores under roughly $5K a month in app-attributed revenue that want reviews, bundles, session recordings and upsell widgets from one dashboard without five separate subscriptions.
What works well in Vitals?
- Reviews module covers the basics. Email review requests go out automatically, CSV imports work cleanly, and photo reviews display properly on product pages. I imported 340 reviews from Judge.me in 12 minutes.
- Volume discounts and bundles are the strongest module. The tiered pricing widget is clean, configurable in the theme editor and handles most supplement-store scenarios (buy two, save 10%; buy three, save 15%) without code.
- Visitor recordings at no extra cost. 1,000 recording page views a month are included. That is enough to spot a broken mobile layout or a confusing product page. Removing a separate Hotjar subscription is a genuine saving.
- Support is genuinely responsive. The 24/7 chat was the most repeated compliment in the App Store reviews and I tested it: a header overlap on my mobile theme was fixed by the support team in 37 minutes without me writing a line of code.
- Changelog and Built for Shopify credentials. Eight years on the App Store, 31,000 merchants, a 4.9 rating. For a supplements store where trust badges and product reviews do serious conversion work, using a recognised app matters to buyers.
What does not work?
- Review module depth is average. No SMS review requests, no loyalty points for reviewing, no Q&A thread. Loox or Judge.me still have the edge if reviews are your single most important conversion asset.
- Bundles with variants are a known pain point. A January 2025 App Store review flags that BOGO offers cannot list flavour variants. I reproduced this on a collagen product with four flavours -- the bundle shows but the flavour selector disappears. That is a real problem for food, supplement and beauty brands.
- Email marketing is entry-level. The included tool works for a pop-up and a welcome email. It has no behavioural flows, no segments, and no A/B testing. Do not let the bundled email tool tempt you away from Omnisend or Klaviyo.
- The 2026 usage charges were a surprise. More on this in the next section.
What changed in Vitals pricing in 2026?
This is the thing every Vitals review should lead with and most do not.
Vitals was a flat $29.99 a month for six years. In 2026 it became $29.99 a month plus metered usage on five specific services: direct revenue assists, conversion assists, visitor recordings, email contacts and leads captured. Each service has a free tier and then billing brackets above it.
The brackets that catch stores out:
- Direct revenue assists -- $40/month once the app is credited with $1K to $5K in revenue it helped generate
- Conversion assists -- $10/month at the same revenue bracket
- Visitor recordings -- $16/month for 1K to 10K page views
- Email contacts -- $15/month for 500 to 1K contacts
A store doing $3K a month in Vitals-assisted revenue (realistic for any store that uses the bundle and upsell widgets) will hit the revenue bracket alone. Add recordings and contacts and the bill reaches $85 to $90 a month. One-star reviews from May to July 2026 report bills of $155.99 and one UAE merchant describes an extra $200 a month appearing without warning.
Vitals' founder replied on those reviews and apologised for the lack of communication. The product is not a scam. But the pricing page still does not spell out what the higher brackets cost, and new installs should read the billing section carefully before their first big sale.
Before you install
Go to the Vitals billing page in Shopify admin and screenshot your included volumes on day one. Set a calendar reminder for week three to check what brackets you have entered. The 40-day free trial through our link gives you enough time to see a full month of attributed-revenue data before your first charge.
How does Vitals compare to ReConvert and PageFly?
| Vitals | ReConvert | PageFly | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary use case | Everything on-site conversion | Post-purchase thank-you page upsell | Custom landing pages and product pages |
| Starting price | $29.99/mo + usage | Free (% of upsell revenue) | $24/mo |
| Reviews | Yes (module) | No | No |
| Bundles and volume discounts | Yes (module) | No | No |
| Session recordings | Yes (1K views/mo) | No | No |
| Post-purchase upsell | No | Yes -- core product | No |
| Custom page builder | No | No | Yes -- core product |
| Free tier | No (7-day trial) | Yes | Yes |
| 40-day trial (via our link) | Yes | No | No |
These three tools are not direct competitors. Pick Vitals when you need the full stack of on-site widgets. Pick ReConvert if post-purchase one-click upsells are your biggest revenue lever -- it does that job better than any Vitals module. Pick PageFly when the problem is the landing page itself, not the widgets on top of it.
Most stores at the £15K to £30K revenue range run Vitals plus one of the other two. That is still cheaper than five separate apps.
Which Shopify stores should use Vitals?
| Your situation | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| New store, first $50K in revenue | Install Vitals on day one. The $29.99 covers everything you need and the usage charges will not bite until you are big enough for them to be a rounding error. |
| Currently paying for 4+ separate conversion apps | Audit your app bill. If you are paying $80 or more for reviews, bundles, wishlist and upsells, Vitals likely cuts the cost in half. |
| Supplement or food brand selling in multi-flavour bundles | Test the variant handling before committing. The BOGO variant issue has not been fixed as of August 2026. |
| Store doing $5K+/mo in app-attributed revenue | Run the usage calc first. At the next bracket, Vitals can reach $100 to $150 a month -- enough to justify best-in-class standalone tools instead. |
| Email is your primary revenue channel | Keep Klaviyo or Omnisend. The Vitals email module is not a replacement. |
| Amazon-only seller | Vitals does nothing for an Amazon listing. Start with Helium 10 or DataDive instead. |
Does the Vitals MCP integration matter in 2026?
Vitals released a Claude MCP connector in 2026 that lets you query your session recordings, reviews and upsell data in plain English from inside Claude. I connected it to my store. You can ask questions like "which products have the most abandoned sessions in the last 30 days" and get an answer without going into the dashboard.
It is a useful shortcut, not a transformative feature. If you already run Claude for Shopify analytics tasks -- see our guide to automating your Shopify store with AI -- it is worth enabling. If you do not, it will not change your workflow.
